The Lactation Support Team

Starting January 2025 I am welcoming two local, experienced doulas, Julia Larson and Alana Corrin for IBCLC mentorship.

Alana and/or Julia will accompany me to in office prenatal visits and postpartum home visits as they complete their required clinical hours to apply for certification.

They offer helping hands during the visit to soothe or hold baby if desired, take charting notes for insurance requirements, and send care plans during visits so you can receive your follow up materials even more promptly.

  • Alana always knew she wanted to work one-on-one with people in a meaningful profession that would help support, educate, and empower them. After taking college courses in fetal and infant motor development and women’s health and reproductive rights, her interests in birth began to develop. She was introduced to doula work after being a nanny for 11 years and working for a number of women who had had traumatic birth experiences. Hearing their stories motivated and inspired her to want to learn everything about birth.

Alana is captivated by birth and the amazing things of which our bodies are capable. Having a science and physical therapy background, she loves the anatomy and physiology side, but feels compelled to the mental and emotional side as well. She has always had a desire to help and be of service, and is a natural nurturer. Birth work is a perfect combination of everything that fascinates her and something she feels she is inherently meant to do.

In her free time you can find Alana on a hike or exploring new destinations in nature, inventing new recipes in the kitchen, getting sunburned at the beach and floating in the waves, re-watching my favorite rom coms, traveling to new places, cuddling with my cat, or skateboarding at a local skate park.

  • Julia is a birth-worker living in Oakland, California who focus' on enhancing pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences by reducing fear, creating a safe space for vulnerable conversations, educating families, being an advocate, offering healing touch, & so much more.
As an experienced doula her goal is to join the team to demystify birth, encourage families to connect to their intuition, provide evidence based information, facilitate partner bonding and stand by their side during one of the most influential and memorable experiences of their lives.

Julia am an empathetic, calm, creative, music-lover who strives to make every environment as cozy as possible. She spends her free time in nature, cooking tasty meals, seeing live music & connecting with loved ones.

Together as a team we have supported over 250 births in the Bay Area in the last five years alone and supported over 400 families through postpartum doula & lactation care.

We are passionate about evidence based, unbiased, unrushed appointments being the only way to care for our families in the sacred, very tender postpartum period.
