Meditation One

Gratitude & Connection with Baby

Let's begin our session now.

As you listen to my voice and feel the grounding weight of the (chair/bed) beneath you connect with your breath and settle into a slow, steady pattern of inhalation and exhalation. As I count backwards from five, take each number as a cue to quiet your mind and enter an even deeper place of relaxation-- ...5 ...4 ...3 ...2 ...1 ...0.

Relaxed, grounded, and connected to your breath-- choosing to sink down deeply into this calm, intentional time together.

Take another deep breath now, breathing out and letting go of all those things that don't service this meditation and gratitude practice. Slowing down your breathing to a gentle, natural rhythm where each breath enters in through your nose, travels down to your baby and surrounds them in warmth, health, and love.

Experience that feeling of the love between you and your baby right now.
Imagine all of the moments you have collected together over the last many months.
Imagine all the times you held your baby close in your body, sharing warmth.
Fully immerse yourself with these feelings of love, and acknowledge that you have.
Begin to feel a sense of overwhelming gratitude for what you are able to give to your baby.

Sit now with these memories and feelings for a little while.

Remember that your body knows how to give birth.

Repeat your intention to yourself three times (feel free to use any grounding affirmation you prefer):

My body was designed to carry and birth my baby.
My body was designed to carry and birth my baby.
My body was designed to carry and birth my baby.

You can relax your body and release to flow through birth.
You can accept all sensations as progress to bring your baby into your arms.
Every moment means you are one step closer to meeting your baby.
Your body is loose, heavy, and relaxed.
Relaxed face, relaxed jaw, relaxed shoulders.
You're nurtured by those around you and nourished by all the women all over the world that are birthing with you right now.
You feel timeless unending strength and confidence in your body.

When you feel that your meditation is complete, feel the sensations in your body once again. Breathe with awareness. Then, open your eyes to rejoin me once again.

Meditation Two

Circle of "_______"

Find your breath as we settle in together for this meditation.

Take smooth inhales followed by deep exhales, letting go of tension from the day and finding calm and presence with your baby and I.

With your hands on your belly, feel you and your baby breath together, with your abdomen gently rising and falling. Close your eyes as you take 5 slow, deep breaths, each one surrounding baby with the love and gratitude of this practice and moment.

Direct a feeling of relaxation to the core of your body. Allow this moment to be filled with relaxation and peace.

Feel the peace… calm… and relaxation-- a feeling of serenity shared by you and your baby… as both of you rest comfortably and relax with me… feeling so calm and completely at peace.

Breathe in relaxation… and breathe out tension.
Breathe in relaxation… and exhale tension.

Keep breathing like this… becoming more relaxed and comfortable with each breath.

Now's let's focus your mind and practice on a calming word.

For today, can use the word, “serenity”. (other options include strength, peace, calm)

In this meditation, serenity will be a beautiful place of inner peace and balance. Where the waves of life, love, or birth are able to flow over you and within you as you maintain this balance.

Where even powerful moments of change and sensation are held in a space of capability, strength, and belief in your body.

Every time you breathe out, mentally say, “serenity” and enter this place with me.

Concentrate attention and intention on this word, “serenity”.

When thoughts arise, let them pass as you re-focus on this word, “serenity”.

Inhale. Serenity in my body.
Inhale. Serenity for my baby.
Inhale. Serenity in my birth.

With every breath, go deeper. Serenity is at your very core. You are with your baby in with amazing place of love, peace, and serenity.

Now, as we close our practice, take the middle finger of your left hand and bring it up to your chest, just above your heart. Slowly take your fore finger and make a circle on your chest. This is your anchor today and every day. Your anchor to serenity and peace in your body and in your birth. Anytime you make this circle once on your chest, you will enter this same place of serenity that we are in right now. The more you make this circle on your chest and think of the amazing, safe, serene birth journey that awaits you and your baby in the coming weeks/days the more deeply into this serenity and gratitude you will sink. When you are ready you can slowly wiggle your fingers, rub your belly, and open your eyes to rejoin me.
